Mr. Helms received his Bachelor's Degree in 1984 and Master's Degree in 1992.

He interned at Orthopedic Hospital, Los Angeles and Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach. After graduation from physical therapy school, he served as director of an in-patient and out-patient physical therapy department at a major hospital that specialized in post-traumatic and neurological rehabilitation.

He has volunteered his services to Flying Physicians, an international non-profit organization that offers health care to needy patients in other countries. He also maintains an active membership in the Private Practice Section, the Aquatics Section and Orthopedic Sections of the National and California Physical Therapy Associations.
